First Aid at Work

Every workplace must be prepared for medical emergencies, and having trained first aiders is a vital part of protecting staff and visitors. The First Aid at Work qualification goes further than Emergency First Aid, providing more in-depth knowledge and skills to deal with a wider range of situations.

This Highfield e-learning course supports the First Aid at Work qualification by covering the theory and underpinning knowledge required before or alongside practical training. It is designed for employees who have been nominated as workplace first aiders or who want a more advanced understanding of first aid.

– The role and responsibilities of the first aider
– Assessing an incident and ensuring a safe response
– Managing an unresponsive casualty (including CPR and AED use)
– Seizures, choking, and external bleeding
– Shock and major injuries such as fractures, sprains, and burns
– Chest injuries, eye injuries, and head injuries
– Poisoning and anaphylaxis
– Recognising and responding to a range of medical emergencies

By completing this course, learners will have the knowledge required to respond effectively to accidents and health emergencies in the workplace, while also supporting compliance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
